Budget Committee Vacancies

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Junction City is accepting applications for two (2) Budget Committee positions. Each position has a 3-year term through December 31, 2029.

The Budget Committee reviews and approves the City’s budget for submission to the City Council. The Committee generally meets during the months of April and May but may meet at other times as the Committee determines is necessary.

Applicants must be qualified electors within the meaning of the state constitution and have resided in the city one year (365 days) immediately preceding appointment to the position.

Applications may be picked up at City Hall between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. They are also available on the City’s website www.junctioncityoregon.gov. 1st review deadline: November 2, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Positions are open until filled. Report on City of Junction City Wastewater Strategic Planning

The City of Junction City is under a Mutual Agreement and Order (MAO) to make significant improvements to its municipal wastewater system to address certain compliance issues with the 2024 National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Waste Discharge Permit (Permit #102396). It is worth noting that the City has been under various MAO’s since the mid 1990’s due to the treatment system not meeting compliance with the permit. The current MAO addresses compliance issues that predate the current permit and place a moratorium limiting future wastewater connections until certain actions are taken by the City. The Background section of this report summarizes the requirements that need to be met by the wastewater system to be in compliance with the current permit, along with outlining the alternatives that have been identified to address these compliance issues.

The City Council for Junction City confirmed an employment offer to Ben West of Wilsonville, OR to serve as Junction City’s next City Administrator. The Council also authorized the Mayor and Council President to negotiate an employment agreement with West for later council adoption. The City Council made the initial offer on August 18, following a two-day interview process subject to completion of the background check. Council reviewed criminal history, civil litigation, verification of employment and education and reference checks to address this matter.
